Welcome to the COVID-19 Coping Study, a study hosted by the University of Washington’s Center for the Science of Social Connection and SurveySignal.
The purpose of this study is to understand how the COVID-19 outbreak is affecting our mental health and relationships over time. Some participants also will receive daily text messages and links designed to help improve mental health and relationships. All participants will receive this helpful information by the end of the study.
What would I do?
Every evening, for 4 weeks, you will take a short survey on your smart phone. You will be asked about your mood, your social well-being, and your health. Some participants also will receive two weeks of daily text messages during this time. At the end of the four weeks, the remaining participants will receive the text message information. Then, you will take two final short surveys, one 8 weeks from now, and one 16 weeks from now.
What's in it for me?
We hope the text messages and information will help you improve your mental health and relational well-being, although we can not guarantee it. Every day you complete the survey we will enter you into a raffle to win one of ten $50 amazon gift cards. If you complete 85% or more of the daily surveys, we will give you 50 bonus entries. The first survey is worth 5 entries.
For this study, you will receive all information via text messages to your phone. If you are interested in receiving the link to register and determine eligibility, please text us your phone number. This number will only be used to contact you for study purposes.
